Our Halloween Party this year was bigger and better than ever. My sweet angel of a mom took our kids to a hotel for the night so we could have the whole house for the party. We hung around upstairs eating & talking, and then moved to the downstairs when it was time to play games. Unfortunately I was running around like crazy until minutes before the party started, so I didn’t get as many pictures this year –and none of the downstairs, except for the basement. We had it all decorated with chains hanging from the ceiling, black lights, floating heads, cobwebs, and fog. You’ll just have to take my word for it! We added a few new food items this year, including toxic mac & cheese, chocolate rats, and bloody cinnamon roll intestines. I also added a bunch more decorations and was able to bring back the murder scene bathroom since we used the downstairs. See for yourself in the pictures below!
The decorations set the mood, and we continued it right through to the food. Best compliment I got all night was when someone told me they couldn’t even eat certain foods because it looked too disgusting. (Halloween is the only time you want to hear that, #amIright?) I have to give all the credit to my mom who came out the week before the party to help me do all the food prep — she ended up making nearly everything herself!!
This year we let Monster choose the theme for our costumes. Coraline is one of her favorite movies (because Coraline is a brave, cool girl who fights off the evil mother!) so she opted for us all to dress up as characters from the movie. She told me immediately that I could be the evil “Other Mother” and Nana could be the “good mother”… naturally. All offense taken put aside, I liked the idea so we did it! I went as “The Other Mother”, and Grant dressed as “Mr. Bobinsky”. The kids went as “Coraline” (Emery) and “Wybie” (Jude). I’ll have to share more pictures later when we added them and my mom (as the good mother) in!
Our guests went all out and I loved the creativity when it came to their costumes!
I have to say our guests are what make it fun every year, so we are very grateful to all those who came out, stayed late, and partied with us! And of course none of this would have been possible without the help from my mom, Grant, and everyone else I roped into helping me. So thank you to all my little worker bees! ;-)
Until next year, folks. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
(Oh and don’t forget to check out my last post to see what our invitations to the party looked like this year!)
