On Monday, Emery turned F O U R and I know it’s cliche to say it, but I really can’t believe my little Monster is four. On one hand, it does seem like a long time ago that I was pregnant with her, but then I can’t believe I’m even old enough to have a four year old! She really is turning into the best little sidekick to have around. Anyone who has a conversation with her—or even strangers overhearing a conversation I have with her—tell me how smart she is. She has a way with her words and really understands everything; often we have conversations and I think, “Wait, how old are you?!” She’s also very caring and is a huge help in taking care of Jude. She is sensitive and gets her feelings hurt sometimes, but one thing I love about her is how good she is at calming herself down. She’ll excuse herself to go into a room alone and “cry it out” as we say in our house, until she is ready to calm down and then comes back to talk about it. She’s very independent and really loves spending time playing pretend with her dolls or stuffed animals (or most recently, her dress-up clothes).
For her birthday this year she decided she wanted to dress up like a fox (we are BIG fans of dressing up here!), so I created a FOUrest Birthday Party theme, also known as a Woodland Creatures theme—but a lot cuter since she’s turning four, #amiright? I went to work decorating the house, making animal masks and ears, and making crowns for both the little boys and little girls coming to the party. My favorite detail was the food table and specifically the cake I had my friend April Blanc make. It was incredible! (If you need any kind of baked goods, April is your girl!) It was fun coming up with different foods that would both fit the theme, and also be kid friendly. I also had a face painter come and she was a huge hit! She was so talented and all the kids loved turning into animals for the day! The photos tell the story of the party best, so I’ll just leave it here (and all vendor links can be found at the bottom of the post):
